Abstract:

This paper presents a machine learning-driven approach for predicting the spectroscopic properties of rare-earth (RE) doped glass systems, with a focus on Dy3+ ions. Glass compositions of 0.25 PbO–0.2 SiO2–(0.55−x) B2O3–x Dy2O3 were synthesized using the melt-quenching technique, and their density, molar volume, and Judd–Ofelt (JO) parameters (Ω2, Ω4, Ω6) were experimentally determined. The Judd–Ofelt theory was applied to calculate spectroscopic parameters such as oscillator strengths, radiative transition probabilities, and radiative lifetimes for Dy3+ doped glasses. Furthermore, a Random Forest (RF) regression model was developed to predict these parameters based on the composition of the glass. The model showed high accuracy, with R² values above 0.9 and root-mean-square errors (RMSE) under 0.1, validating the use of RF for reliable predictions of optical properties. The results indicate that the RF model can effectively simulate the luminescent properties of RE-doped glasses, significantly reducing the need for experimental testing. This approach offers potential for optimizing the design of optical materials used in applications such as lasers, optical amplifiers, and temperature sensors.

Background: The purpose of this study is to compare SOURCE 8 and 20 in the EGSnrc-based DOSXYZnrc Monte Carlo code for Jaws-only intensitymodulated radiation therapy (JO-IMRT) dose distribution, and demonstrate the advantage of SOURCE 20 to SOURCE 8 to treat head-and-neck cancer. Materials and Methods: The clinical photon beams of the HPD Siemens Primus linear accelerator simulated using the BEAMnrc code and then verified by measurement. The phase-space files generated by the BEAMnrc code were used as an input for the DOSXYZnrc to calculate the JO-IMRT dose distributions of patients (in form of CT images) using the SOURCES 8 and 20. The isodose distribution on slices, DVH and gamma index (3%/3 mm, 2%/2 mm, and 1%/1 mm) were compared with Monte Carlo and treatment planning system (TPS) results. Furthermore, the efficient computation of dose distributions such as time running, working load and uncertainty error calculation also considered for evaluation. Results: JO-IMRT dose distributions calculated by SOURCE 8 and 20 compared with the Prowess Panther TPS. The time running, working load based on SOURCE 20 were significantly less than SOURCE 8. Futhermore, the uncertainty calculation based on SOURCE 20 was also significantly less than SOURCE 8. Conclusion: The JO-IMRT dose distributions calculated by SOURCE 20 are more efficient than SOURCE 8.

Abstract:

Background: Wound healing is a complex, multifactorial process in which poor healing in chronic wounds has emerged as the most significant complication in recent years. Jojoba oil (JO) has been traditionally used for its medicinal properties, especially for skin disorders. Studies suggested its potential wound-healing activity in-vitro. However, the underlying mechanism by which JO promotes the rejuvenating process is unclear in-vivo. The present study was aimed at evaluating the wound-healing activity of JO in both normal and delayed healing. Methods: Excision wounds were inflicted by surgical method on the anesthetized rats. Animal wounds were explored for their healing activity by photography in-vivo. Expression of ERK, collagen, VEGF and PDGF was investigated using western blot. Results: Topical administration of JO (0. 5 ml/wound, twice a day) showed significant wound healing activity. All groups demonstrated a significant increase (p<0. 001) in wound contraction percentage except dexa+JO versus control. 100% wound closure was seen on day 12 in JO treated group when compared to the control which showed complete closure on day 15. We found that JO-treated animals showed an increase in the expression of collagen, VEGF, PDGF and ERK whereas dexamethasone displayed no expression. In the histopathology and Masson trichrome staining, the control group showed granulation tissue with no scab and epithelium, dexamethasone group exhibited the presence of less granulation tissue when compared with the control and treatment groups. The JO group depicted mature granulation tissue with more epithelial growth and the dexa+JO group, showed granulation tissue with little epithelial growth when compared, with the JO group. Masson trichrome staining showed matured collagen in the JO group when compared with the diseased group. Conclusion: These findings suggest that JO activates ERK signaling, collagen formation, VEGF, PDGF expression which shows the plausible potential of JO in accelerating the healing process, more efficiently in delayed wound healing.

Abstract:

Studying the shear behavior of rock joints due to its significant effect on the stability of structures is very important. In this regard, important and valuable works have been done. Many empirical and theoretical models have been proposed to estimate the joint shear strength. The ultimate goal is to predict the joint shear strength through known parameters without carrying out tests. This study investigates the shear behavior of natural rock joints obtained from core drilling without filling materials. For this purpose, the surface morphological characteristics of the natural joints were captured by Close-Range Photogrammetry. The direct shear tests were performed on the Constant Normal Load condition. The Gene Expression Programming algorithm was used to obtain the relationships between variables. In order to model 70% of data were used to train and the remaining 30% of data to test. Overall, four models were run and a mathematical relationship was presented to estimate the shear strength of natural rock joints. To evaluate the efficiency of the models, valid criteria were used such as: R2, MSE, MAE, RSME. The results showed that the GEP algorithm has an appropriate accuracy for the estimation of the output variable.

Abstract:

Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a challenging disorder that severely impacts the quality of life. The current study objective was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of jujube oxymel (JO) for treating CSU. Materials and Methods: In this randomized double-blind controlled trial, 92 patients (aged 12–65) with CSU were randomly allocated to JO or placebo groups. They received 30cc of each syrup three times daily with 10 mg cetirizine for 28 days, subsequently taking 10 mg cetirizine alone for the next 4 weeks. Outcomes were evaluated using the weekly urticaria activity score (UAS-7) and Chronic Urticaria Quality of Life Questionnaire (CU-Q2oL). Results: After four weeks, the UAS-7 score mean and standard deviation in the JO group significantly decreased to 10. 89 ± 4. 87 compared to the placebo group at 15. 06 ± 7. 55 (P: 0. 002). In the follow-up period, JO group participants achieved a score of 10. 28 (4. 67), while a significant increase occurred in the control group (18. 33 ± 6. 29) (P = 0. 001). On day 28, there was a notable improvement in the quality of life within the JO group (P < 0. 05). By the eighth week, both groups experienced an increase in CU-Q2oL score, but the changes in the control group were statistically significant (18. 09 (5. 96) vs 41. 31 (10. 34) (P: 0. 001). Conclusion: JO, as part of integrated therapy, exhibited potentially longer-lasting efficacy than cetirizine alone, contributing to enhanced quality of life and increased patient satisfaction due to minimal side effects.

Abstract:

This study aimed to explore and validate a new juvenile osteopenic (JO) rat model then examine the efficacy of moghat (Glossostemon bruguieri) as an alternative reversal therapy for JO. Phytochemical screening analysis showed that moghat contains 5.8% alkaloids, 1.5% flavonoids and 13.2% total phenols. Juvenile osteopenia was induced in 15 days old Sprague- Dawley female rats by feeding them free Ca and vitamin D synthetic diet for 21 days. Osteopenic rats were either treated with moghat (0.8 g dried plant tissue/Kg body weight, orally), or with a reference nutritional supplements of calcium chloride (14 mg Ca/Kg) and vitamin D3 (7 IU/ Kg), for extra 21 days. Both untreated and treated groups were compared to a control group that fed a regular pelleted food. Our results showed that osteopenic rats lost normal bone tissue architecture, 30 % of body mass, 54 % of bone mass and finally 93% of bone calcium mass. Furthermore, these rats showed a markedly increase in serum phosphate, PTH, alkaline phosphatase, aspartate transaminase activities and creatinine level as compared to the control group. Moghat administration was successfully reversed osteopenia by normalizing body and bone masses to the reference ranges, increased the bone calcium mass by 17 fold without any detectable side effects on liver and kidney physiological performance. Therefore, moghat could be considered as potent safe –JO- reversal extract.

Abstract:

In order to investigation of traits correlation and the cause and effect relationship among some traits and yield component in barley in drought stress conditions, the research was conducted in the College of Agriculture, Islamic Azad University, Karaj. The experiment was a split plot in a randomized complete block design was implemented. Main plots consisted of two optimum irrigation (control) and drought stress (irrigation after heading), and subplots were consisted of 10 genotypes of barley: Valfajr, Raihan, Kavir, Gohar jo, Zar jo, Caron, Dasht, Turkmen, Nusrat and Youseph. The results stress treatment caused a significant decrease in grain yield, total dry matter, grain weight per unit area, spike number, 1000 grain weight per spike, plant height and length of the peduncle and kavir cultivar with a lower of 46/4% of the maximum yield with reduced sensitivity to stress and Dasht cultivar, 2.34% yield had the lowest sensitivity to stress. grain yield With Attributes such as Spike weight per unit area, harvest index, plant height, peduncle length and biomass showed a significant positive correlation. To remove the effects of ineffective or low impact on yield traits in the regression model, stepwise regression was used. The model has a coefficient of determination(0.999). Path analysis showed the highest direct effect and a positive spike weight (P=1.343) on grain yield was. And this is a positive trait through harvest index (P=0.356) and total dry weight (P=-0.935) to left negative indirect effect on grain yield.

Abstract:

In third world countries, organizational leaders rarely have figured out to consider happiness and joy of work as a part of the system they are managing. Usually, happiness in organizations is not considered as a management style. Gradually, it became obvious that joy and fun at the workplace will decrease the health care costs, enhances the customers’ loyalty, and increases productivity and profits as a result. Most research on this subject matter relied upon very specific case studies. No research exits dealing with the risks and benefits of Joyful organization. The objectives of this paper are twofold: (1) to utilize hierarchical fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) to determine the most suitable type of Joyful Organization (JO), and (2) to list key risks and benefits of Joyful Organization. This researcher explains the importance of selection criteria for evaluation of Joyful organizations. It provides key elements on JO, Quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM), and fuzzy hierarchical TOPSIS methodology. Since QSPM is used with SWOT by many practitioners and researchers in various fields of study, it was selected as a tool for validation purposes. A case study is taken under consideration and results are explained for both approaches.  The finding of this research points to the suitability of semi conventional organization strategy which means implementing about 50% of the rules of main cultural organizations. A sensitivity analysis was performed on TOPSIS using the weights generated by the hierarchical fuzzy TOPSIS approach, Shannon entropy weight, and TOPSIS approach. The ranking results obtained are identical for all these three cases.
